Originally from Boston, and living on the park bench in a central community in Pennsylvania for weeks now, he was waiting to go to his local AA meeting when he spotted the cash sitting there, no owner in site. Down on his luck and without a dime to his name, this man returned nearly $400 to a stranger. And although he could have easily taken it, treating himself to a hot meal and maybe a night in a warm comfy bed, he had a hunch that the owner needed it more than he did, and so he did the right thing and contacted the local shelter asking for help to locate the owner.
“Somebody might not have known, but I would have known. God would have known” he says, when asked if there was a split second he thought about keeping the money. His hunch was right. The owner of the nearly $400 in cash is a single mother fighting a battle with her health. Neither of the parties wanted to be on film or named but the reunion was filled with many hugs and thank you’s. She said that her whole life was in that purse, and she could not put into words how thankful she is to this wonderful man, and good Samaritan.
