The global glorification of Islam.
I’m not a Conspiracy Theorist. By nature I’m a skeptic. But I do like reading about them. Sometimes they’re an entertaining diversion. Occasionally, however, the conspiracies are true. The global glorification of Islam isn’t a conspiracy and it isn’t entertaining. It’s deadly serious.
Islam sees itself in a virtuous and glorious light. One Islamic website claims that Allah is worshipped by all people of faith, and that he is compassionate, loving and merciful. Is this true? True or not, the world and many Christian leaders want to believe, and teach, that such is the case.
Gatestone Institute and other media have trotted out a number of articles addressing the world’s love affair with Islam over the last few weeks. They nailed the issues so well and so often, I could have put my neck out nodding in agreement. Unfortunately these articles often preach to the choir.
The most prominent and unabashed purveyor of the glorification of Islam has been President Obama. He wasted no time in passionately extolling the virtues of Islam leading up to his inauguration as president. Obama has asserted that Islam contributed to the greatness of America’s history.
He and his staff also irresponsibly invited the Muslim Brotherhood into the White House. See American Thinker’s The Greatest Spy Story Ever Told (among others).
At least two past U.S. presidents would disagree with president Obama’s exultation of Islam. Joseph Klein observes:
As Jefferson and Adams described in a letter to John Jay on March 28, 1786, the Muslim ambassador explained that the conduct of the Barbary Coast pirates “was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.”
A little later on Winston Churchill offered his two cents worth. This is confirmed by Snopes, that bastion of factual data, no less:
Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.
Forgive me for the lengthy quotations, but does this sound familiar at all? Does history not teach us something?
Since President Obama’s election, one may be forgiven into thinking that he harbors a close connection and parental care of all things Islam. Despite his self-identification as a Christian he seems to have done everything within his power to compromise the Christian faith.
Nonie Darwish also notes his affinity with Islam:
Promoting Islam also seems to have been a major factor in Obama’s equation for America. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton followed suit, hosting several closed-door conferences on “Defamation of Religion,” to suppress free speech and internationally criminalize any criticism of Islam with fines and prison. She would rather blame terrorism on free speech than on the violent tenets of Islam.
The United Nations has done its promotional bit – and very well at that. Read Gatestone’s UN Plan to Turn the World into an Islamic Colony? Is it just a hateful “conspiracy theory?” Shall we take a casual night-time walk through Germany’s No-Go Zones? Are we all content with Islam’s human rights record? How about those European Blasphemy Courts?
Sweden has had more than its share of Islamic integration problems. You can research these for yourself at Gatestone. Pope Francis appeared to make some concessions after his Reformation-hugging tour to that country. The dose of reality shook him. However, his ingrained thinking on immigration and Islam continues.
One prominent Reformed Christian apologist advised against stereotyping Islam. He claimed that there were many different interpretations of the Qur’an. I found his lecture frustrating. If only Imams around the world allegorized their book the way he does the Bible’s eschatological passages. But most don’t.
The problem Europe is experiencing with Islamic integration is because the majority interprets the Qur’an literally. The reformed voice of Islam, if it exists, isn’t heard. Ask the Christians who still live in Islamic dominated Middle East nations.
In contrast to the practice of placating Islam, Charles Spurgeon didn’t hold back:
The Mohammedans’ religion might be sustained by scimitars, but Christians’ religion must be sustained by love. The great crime of war can never promote the religion of peace. The battle, and the garment rolled in blood, are not a fitting prelude to peace on earth, goodwill to men. And I do firmly hold, that the slaughter of men, that bayonets, and swords, and guns, have never yet been, and never can be, promoters of the gospel. The gospel will proceed without them, but never through them.
Neither did Puritan Thomas Watson:
God’s name is dishonoured by the Turks, who adore Mahomet their great prophet, as one divinely inspired. Mahomet was of an impure, vicious nature. He plucked the crown from Christ’s head by denying his deity. ~ The Lord’s Prayer
Christians of eras past suffered greatly in order to defend God’s truth. It often got them killed. What would they say to us today in light of this world’s romance with Islam?
No doubt by now I’ll have been tagged as a scaremongering Islamophobe by some. I don’t really care. The truth needs to be told and repeated. Islam isn’t a glorious faith. It demands the blood of its faithful as full surety to heaven.
In contrast, Jesus Christ – our Lord and our God – shed His precious blood for those who put their faith in Him. This is Amazing Grace. Christianity is the only true Glorious Faith.
Put your faith in Christ only- before it is too late.
