A first-of-its-kind resolution in the U.S. has been approved by the Tennessee Senate condemning both the global anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement and the increasing incidents of anti-Semitism in the Volunteer State.
The head of the Nashville-based Proclaiming Justice to the Nations is pleased that the Tennessee legislature is taking up the issue. Laurie Cardoza-Moore, who is also the special envoy to the United Nations for the World Council of Independent Christian Churches, says the resolution is a result of hate crimes targeting Jews and anti-Semitic acts such as the one recently committed against the Jewish fraternity at Vanderbilt University.
“We are seeing a rise of global genocidal anti-Semitism,” she tells OneNewsNow, “and we’re also seeing anti-Semitic attacks on the rise in the United States and also on our college and university campuses.” As well, she cites an incident in the state last year of a quote in a textbook that was anti-Semitic.
“So all this is doing is really helping to incite and inflame this age-old hatred,” Cardoza-Moore laments. “And so we in Tennessee have decided to be proactive in addressing this issue now,” she says in reference to the resolution. [Continue Reading]
