The Comforter
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Come unto Me and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down
Thy head upon my breast:”
I cam to Jesus as I was,
Weary and worn and sad;
I found in Him a resting place,
And He has made me glad.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Behold I freely give
The loving water; thirsty one,
Stoop down, and drink, and live:”
I cam to Jesus and I drank
Of that life-giving stream;
My thirst was quenched, and my soul revived,
And now I live in Him.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“I am this dark world’s Light;
Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise,
And all thy day be bright:”
I looked to Jesus and I found
In Him my Star, my Sun;
And in that Light of life I’ll walk,
Till travelling my days are done.

Thou Shepherd of Israel and mine
Thou Shepherd of Israel, and mine,
The joy and desire of my heart,
For closer communion I pine;
I long to reside where Thou art;
The pasture I languish to find,
Where all, who their Shepherd obey,
Are fed on Thy bosom reclined,
And screen’d from the heat of the day.
‘This there, with the lambs of Thy flock,
There only, I covet to rest;
To lie at the foot of the rock,
Or rise to be hid in Thy breast:
‘Tis there I would always abide,
And never a moment depart, —
Conceal’d in the cleft of Thy side,
Eternally held in Thy heart.

Scripture
For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in you! Psalm 84:10-12
