It is no secret that Vladimir Putin desires to rebuild the Czarist Russian Empire. His aggression in the Ukraine has now given European countries cause for concern. According to the Guardian:
[A] Joint declaration from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland calls Russia’s conduct the ‘biggest challenge to European security’…The ministers said they were responding to an altered security situation caused by Russia’s involvement in the Ukraine conflict and increased Russian military activity in the Baltic region…read it here
Other European leaders have noted that what is occurring today with Russia parallels many of the dynamics which led to the World Wars of the last century. In another Guardian article, Poland has expressed its anxiety. It issued a warning to Europe that Russia’s aggression in the Ukraine has “changed everything.”
