Israel In The Biblical Worldview: An Introduction. This is a review of Perry Trotter’s new book covering the subjects of Israel and Zionism. At around 248 pages, it is independently published and comes in hardback, paperback and Kindle versions.
Perry is a photographer, filmmaker, musician and Bible teacher. You can read a brief bio HERE. His work can be seen at Shadows of Shoah (The Holocaust Foundation) and The Times of Israel. Perry’s teaching skills shine in a seven-part film presentation which responds to Christian Anti-Zionism, and affirms Biblical Zionism.
Review
I had the pleasure and honor of reading a pre-publication manuscript for the purpose of feedback. I’m happy that it evolved from a presentation into a book available to those interested in the subject.
My first impression was how many targets the author accurately hit in a concise manner. Along with a genuine love for the Jewish people and Israel, Perry Trotter seems to have the gift of teaching. In a world where people’s attention spans are often restricted to short Twitter posts, he does not place excessive demands on the reader. The format is helpful. The pages don’t overwhelm and the Footnotes are extensive.
It is divided into two parts. The first explores the identity of Israel, the Messiah, biblical covenants, Replacement Theology, and more. One of my favorite chapters is “Antisemitism and its Unseen Cause.” Perry rightly goes to the Bible and shows that Antisemitism at its root is a spiritual issue. This was the same conclusion that Charles Lee Feinberg offered.
Part two goes to the text to analyze Replacement Theology (or supersessionism) in its various forms. He does this in an irenic fashion, providing numerous citations of those who hold to it in the Footnotes. Perry also addresses the topics of re-interpretation and New Testament favoritism. Lastly, he supplies a list of recommended-reading resources.
This is a short and easy-to-follow book. Yet it is deceptively powerful. I’ve been studying these topics and writing about them for about fifteen years, and I wish I had something like this book when I started out.
Get it!
Perry Trotter has done commendable work in putting this book together. I pray more and more Christians pay attention to it as it honors God’s plain-sense revelation. Notably, two teachers I hold in regard have endorsed it (Paul Henebury and Mottel Baleston). I stand in agreement with them.
