Let’s pray for America. On the 13th of July, 2024, a shocking assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump. While I won’t dwell on the politics surrounding this event here, anyone who looks at this nation objectively must realize how divided it has become.
America is divided on multiple levels, not just politically. Even the church is divided. Look at the schisms within the Anglican and Methodists. Look at the Christian spats and arguments on social media. And consider the abandonment of God’s Word for the sake of the culture.
Let’s pray for America before it’s too late. It has rejected God, and has become an anti-Christian, pagan nation which celebrates the murder of the pre-born. America exults in perverse sexuality, sexualizes children, and encourages lawlessness. Sodom and Gomorrah earned God’s judgment, then why not this nation?
So let’s pray for America. But let’s begin by praying for our own revival; that of our families and friends, and that of the corporate church. Let’s focus on telling the lost about Christ and winning disciples. God spared Nineveh after Jonah finally preached to it; may America may be given a similar reprieve.
Bible Verses
The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. Psalm 33:10-11
For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding. God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne. Psalm 47:7-8
He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. Isaiah 2:4
And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us… Acts 17:26-27
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Rom 13:1
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 1 Tim 2:1-2
