As we get older, we’re likely to be increasingly exposed to the specter and inevitability of our mortality, through the example of the deaths of relatives and friends. We also experience this through the steady, unrelenting degradation of our bodies. We get old and die. Sometimes we don’t even make it to old age. We do have a Hope. Telos Theological Ministries has now produced five short videos on the Resurrection. We hope people will take the opportunity to watch them.
How did the pagans see the resurrection? What does the Bible say about Christ’s resurrection, and how does that affect us? What about the whole of creation? Dr. Paul Henebury answers these questions, and more, in these recommended videos.
For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Rom 6:5-10
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. 1 Cor 15:41-44
For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. Rom 8:22-23
