That Little Baby in the Manger was God come down to us. I often hear the term “little baby Jesus.” Let us remember who that baby was.
Scriptures
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. John 1:1-3
He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. John 1:10
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Phil 2:5-7
God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high; having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.
For to which of the angels did He ever say, “Thou art My Son, Today I have begotten Thee“? And again, “I will be a Father to Him and He shall be a Son to Me”? And when He again brings the first-born into the world, He says, “And let all the angels of God worship Him.”
And of the angels He says, “Who makes His angels winds, And His ministers a flame of fire.” But of the Son He says, “Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.”Thou hast loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy companions.” Heb 1:1-9
John Hart
Let us all, with grateful praises.
Celebrate the happy day
When the lovely, loving Jesus
First partook of human clay.
When the heavenly host assembled,
Gazed with wonder from the sky;
Angels joy’d and devils trembled,
Neither fully knowing why.
Long had Satan reign’d imperious,
Till the woman’s promised seed,
Born a babe, by birth mysterious,
Came to bruise the serpent’s head.
Crush, dear babe, his power within us,
Break our chains, and set us free;
Pull down all the bars between us,
Till we fly and cleave to Thee.
Maranatha!
