Couldn’t pick a better graphic to express the Look Rook of Joy.
We all need the rook* of joy, today and everyday. *misspelling intentional
This is the day which the LORD has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
Yesterday was a bad day. See HERE. Needless to say, I’m thankful for this new day!
Last night, I knew I needed to pull out the heavy artillery to get my mind and heart back on track. I went downstairs, to the basement, to get my iPod and happened to look over at the elliptimal machine. Hanging from the ceiling above it is this sign I made to motivate my niece and I when we were working out:
Yep, that’s what I needed to see. I also needed my iPod to find my favorite Francis Chan podcast. I’ve listened to this sermon numerous times over the years – it’s just that good. I can even remember the first time I listened to it. I used to go for walks at lunch time and the length of Pastor Chan’s sermons fit perfectly within the time allotted. I was just telling Alf that I can remember exactly where I was on my walk at certain points of the sermon. How I laughed out loud at one point (of course when people were around). And how glad I was to be sitting and taking a break at another point because the visualization was awe-inspiring. Strange how memorable it was for me.
In times of stress or crabby moods Alf and I frequently remind each other to have “the rook of joy.” You’ll just have to watch the video to see why we keep referring to it that way! 😉 The actual title of the sermon is Living With Joy.
In our fast-paced – 140 characters or less – world I know it’s a lot to ask of someone to listen to a 40 minute video. Please take the time to do so, I promise you it will be worth it.
I needed this today and you just may need it too.
