Will western capitulation to the Iranian “nuclear deal” trigger an arms race, or even lead to a war? There are many vocal opinions on either side of the question.
The once hopeful “Arab Spring” has turned into a Winter Nightmare with possible nuclear ramifications. The region has descended into pandemonium with regimes falling and the rise of ISIS. Meanwhile Iran is extending its empire. It has projected its intentions through an often stated desire to destroy Israel and it has been using Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas as terrorist proxies for years. Despite this, many insist on maintaining an optimistic stance. They would not see this as western capitulation or a trigger to a future war. But on what basis should they trust the Iranian regime?
Gatestone Institute provides more inconvenient reasons as to why this is a very dangerous stance – especially if you happen to live in Israel:
Russia and China have also agreed to build nuclear plants for Iran. And North Korea has also been supplying Iran with technology, a “minor detail” hidden from the UN by U.S. President Barack Obama. And the U.S. thinks that if Iran is caught cheating, sanctions can be re-imposed?
Other countries in the region have already started scheduling delivery for their nuclear weapons. They have made it clear they will not sit idly by while Iran goes nuclear.
